The Electric Chair Executions of 1972.

On 26 June 1967, Maggie de la Riva, an actress with 80 films to her credit was going home after a taping at ABS CBN on Roxas Blvd, in Pasay City together with her maid.

She was driving her bantam car  when suddenly she was waylaid by a Pontiac car and she was forcibly dragged out of her car and was taken to the Pontiac car who immediately speeded away. In the car were 4 men.

She was brought to Swanky hotel also in Pasay. There she was asked to do a striptease to the delight of the four men.

Then she was alternately raped. When she lost conciousness she was sprayed with water. Then she was raped again. Some form of torture were also used to coerce her. After some time they boarded her on a taxi and dropped her at the old studios of Channel 5.

When she got home she found her mother and brother in their house with so many mediamen, PC soldiers, and Policemen. She cried to her mama, " Mama i was raped. They raped me!".

After filing a case complete with medico legal reports a big manhunt was done to arrest the perpetrators.

It soon turned out that the four men all came from prominent and well to do families.

They were,
Jaime Jose, a band leader and an Engineering graduate, whose father is the chief of police of Pasay
Basilio Pineda
Edgardo Aquino Payumo, also an Engineering Graduate
Rogelio Cañal, an Architectural student.

On 2 October 1967, the Regional Trial Court presided by Judge Lourdes San Diego handed down the verdict. It found the four accused guilty of the crime of abduction with rape and sentenced each one of them to Death by electric chair.

The decision was later affirmed and and the sentence gravitated by the Supreme Court

17 May 1972, in spite of the tears of the convicts and their families (the mother of Jaime Jose even went to Malacañang to beg for a pardon) the three, Jaime Jose,  Basilio Pineda, and Edgardo Aquino went to their death via electicution. This was covered live on national radio.

The family of a man who was kicked in the head by police at Manchester Airport has appealed for "calm in all the communities", an MP has said. Paul Waugh, Rochdale MP, said the "traumatised" family wanted to make it clear they had "no political agenda whatsoever" and did not condone political violence. Anger over the video led to protests outside Rochdale police station on Wednesday and Thursday nights, with another protest also held in Manchester city centre on Thursday. Mr Waugh said the family would not be attending any protests or giving any media interviews as they wanted their privacy protected. "The strong message they wanted to give is that they have no political agenda whatsoever," he told BBC Breakfast. "They wanted me to issue an appeal for calm among all sorts of different communities in Rochdale. "We've had a history of unfortunate division in our town and we do not want to go back to those days." He said the famil...
