Once upon a time in Igbo land (Now in Nigeria, West Africa) everyone was a landlord; there were no homeless people in any part of Igbo land, as age grades would team up together to start building houses collectively for one another, free of charge.

In the olden days, life was so easy. Ndígbo (The people of Igbo) lived a communal life. When a man reached a youthful age, his age grade would contribute to building a house for him for free. He would also do the same for others.

No one got paid for doing so; it was free of charge. Community development was an important role and duty of pre-colonial Igbo society.

Everyone joyfully helped one another to stand as a man and have a shelter over their heads.
